Young Professionals Win National Urban League Award

The  Urban League of Portland is pleased to announce that two of our Young Professionals (YPs), Pamela Weatherspoon and Corey Frazier, have been selected to receive the 2016 National Urban League Young Professional HONORS Award. Due to Ms. Weatherspoon’s and Mr. Frazier’s dedication to their community, serving others and excelling in their careers, the National Urban League Young Professional Executive Leadership Team and the Programs Committee, chose them from amongst thousands of YPs across the country.

When they were honored on Saturday, Ms. Weatherspoon and Mr. Frazier were joined by Urban League of Portland Young Professional (ULPDXYP) President Nicole Rowe and Vice President Cupid Alexander. President Rowe said, “Ms. Weatherspoon and Mr. Frazier’s philanthropic and professional contributions have garnered them respect from their peers. The YPs locally and nationally are proud to acknowledge their accomplishments.”The awards were presented a ceremony at the National Urban League “Save Our Cities” Annual Conference in Baltimore.

About the honor, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Urban League of Portland Nkenge Harmon Johnson said, “Ms. Weatherspoon is an active member of the Urban League. She helps to make our community better and encourages others to support our mission of serving people across Oregon and Southwest Washington.” CEO Harmon Johnson continued, “Under the leadership of President Rowe, our Urban League of Portland Young Professionals are growing stronger and contributing more to their community month after month. I am delighted that Ms. Weatherspoon has been honored by the National Urban League in recognition of her special contribution and notable achievements."
