General Statement of Duties

The Security and Front Desk Representative is the initial point of contact for in-person customers and visitors of CareOregon.  This position provides basic customer service, including information about CareOregon and work that is conducted in our headquarters building.  Visitors, guests and deliveries are directed to the proper location in a prompt and courteous manner, consistent with our organizational values.  This position also serves as the initial point of contact for security assessment for people and objects entering the building.  In the event that a visitor becomes violent, this position is equipped to attempt de-escalation.  If the incident continues to evolve, this position will make the first call to law enforcement.  In addition, this position will provide other routine physical security services, including monitoring cameras, checking doors, and providing basic first aid.

Essential Position Functions

Greet members, guests and visitors to the CareOregon building
Provide initial security screening of all people entering CareOregon building
Understand local and state laws related to physical security and unauthorized individuals
Treat all customers with honesty, courtesy, dignity and respect; maintain confidentiality as appropriate
Provide customers with professional, timely and competent service; escort visitors as needed
Monitor cameras, check building doors, and perform other routine security services
Perform basic first aid as needed
Provide proactive, value added service by identifying and reporting building issues
Consistently meet or exceed Department and Company standards and expectations including but not limited to quality, production and attendance

Education and/or Experience

Minimum one year experience in relevant security and customer service roles, preferably in healthcare, call center, claims, or hospitality.  Additional experience preferred.

Qualified candidates will possess an Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Unarmed Security Professional certificate or be in the process of applying for certification, in which case a Temporary Work Permit through the DPSST is required upon hire.  Oregon DPSST certification must be obtained within four months of the work permit issue date.  Private security staff must be at least 18 years of age and must have met one of the following educational standards:  A high school diploma; a GED certificate; or a four-year, post-secondary degree issued by an accredited degree-granting college or university.

Travel:  This position may include occasional required or optional travel outside of the workplace, in which the employee’s personal vehicle, local transit, or other means of transportation may be used.
