Business Banking Services - Market Credit Analyst

Salary Range: $58,000 to $75,000 Base + Incentive

SUMMARY:
Works collaboratively with Business Bankers and Relationship Managers to provide credit analysis for mid-sized businesses. Reviews and analyzes financial documents. Makes recommendations and provides underwriting support for business loans exceeding $100,000. Provides support to the Business Services Department as needed.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Responsible for performing analysis of business and personal financial statements, tax returns, and other related financial documents.
Underwrites and structures requests for business term loans, lines of credit, and commercial real estate loans.
Utilizes computer software, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, to create analysis models.Provides independent credit decisioning within delegated authority and Rivermark guidelines; to a maximum of $100,000.
Provides support to business and commercial lending as needed, including loan processing and credit administration tasks.
Works in collaboration with Business Bankers and Relationship Managers to interview loan applicants to gather required underwriting data. Pre-screens requests to determine alignment with lending policy. Obtains required documents as necessary.
Prepares credit memos for approval recommendations to include borrower, collateral, credit, and financial analysis.
Conducts timely portfolio monitoring activities, loan reviews, and credit renewals.
Interprets the credit approval memo; determines required commercial loan documentation. Ensures preparation of correct and accurate loan documents.
May provide business credit analysis and lending guidance to Credit Union staff.
Provides quality assurance support to the business and commercial loan programs, as needed.
Maintains current, up to date, knowledge of the Credit Union’s Business Services programs, offered rates, policies, and processes. Makes recommendations to continuously improve products and processes within the Credit Union.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related field. Minimum four years of small business lending and/or business banking experience in a financial institution. Four or more years of credit underwriting experience preferred.

Ability to prioritize projects and tasks. Proven ability to fully complete multiple tasks accurately while meeting competing deadlines.
Professional written and verbal communication skills demonstrated by strong composition, grammar, spelling, punctuation and proofreading abilities. Ability to demonstrate courtesy and tact in all interactions.
Knowledge and understanding of the Credit Union’s products, services, and loan policies.
General working knowledge of, and ability to adhere to, all Federal/State laws and regulations pertinent to business lending.
Ability to adapt to a wide range of job responsibilities and remain flexible as priorities shift.
Proven ability to work independently, and collaboratively, towards individual and department goals
Ability to conduct needs assessments, identify issues, develop solutions, and take appropriate courses of action.
Familiarity with the major cities located within our service area.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
