Now Hiring Program Coordinator for Preschool through 5th Grade After School Program

The Global Kids Extended-day Program at The International School located in downtown Portland Oregon, is hiring a Part-time Program Coordinator to work with our Early Childhood (3 and 4 year olds) and K-5th Grade students daily after school. Pay Rate: $16-$17/hour, Depending on experience

Weekly Hours: 23.5 hours. Actual hours to be determined by Program Manager and program needs.

Schedule: Typical schedule is listed below. Actual schedule and weekly hours to be determined by Global Kids Manager and program needs.

2:30-6:30pm Monday-Friday on school days plus 30 minutes daily of remote work. Additional one hour for weekly staff meetings

Location: South Waterfront area of downtown Portland- easily accessible by freeways, public transit, and bicycle. Walking distance from PSU and OHSU. Parking passes are provided.

General Summary:

The Program Coordinator is a part-time position reporting to the Global Kids Program Manager. The Program Coordinator collaborates with the Program Manager, staff, partners, and families to plan and deliver a high quality extended-day program that supports student engagement and the all around well-being of students. The Coordinator will communicate clearly and professionally through email, phone, text, and in person with all stakeholders. The Coordinator will work to ensure smooth transitions, systems, and student expectations are in place. They will also monitor the health and safety of staff and students. The Coordinator will track and maintain attendance records. The Coordinator will also provide excellent customer service for families. The Coordinator is the point person for the Global Kids Extended-day Program during the Program Manager's absence. The Coordinator will also collaborate with the Program Manager to support staff by facilitating staff meetings and daily communications with staff, and by participating in hiring and training of new staff. The Coordinator will have the ability to work a varied schedule depending on program needs and activities.

All staff are expected to create a safe, welcoming, child-friendly environment; ensuring that children are supervised 100% of the time they are at Global Kids Program. Staff are also expected to communicate effectively and positively with students, families, supervisors, school staff, and other community members.

COVID-19: All staff are expected to follow the Operational Blueprint of The International School as well as the Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Department of Education guidelines for keeping children, staff, and families safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oregon Office of Childcare: Global Kids Program is a state licensed child care center. The Global Kids Manager will guide staff in the steps necessary to comply with the state license, which can be completed upon hire.

Required Qualifications:

High School Degree and two years of college coursework
1-3 years experience working with children, preferably in a school
Experience in an administrative or coordinator role
Communicate fluently in written and spoken English
Experience working with people from diverse cultural, linguistic, and economic backgrounds is essential

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in volunteer management and staff supervision
Comfortable in an international community with experience living and/or traveling overseas and studying other languages
