Through the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, Catholic Charities of Oregon achieves lasting solutions to poverty and injustice by partnering with clients to meet their economic and educational goals, and to support their physical and social well-being. Catholic Charities is the official domestic relief agency of the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon.


The Partnership and Volunteer Engagement Manager engages all three pillars of the Pope Francis Center and serves to build knowledge and education of Catholic Charities' programs and services. The Pope Francis Center is aligned to three pillars: education, engagement, and volunteerism. Experience in any of these areas as well as fund development and corporate partnerships are all assets for this position.

The Partnership and Volunteer Engagement Manager will manage and support the strategy for Corporate, Parish and Volunteer engagement for Catholic Charities. These activities include: conduct active cultivation and stewardship of corporate and parish partners; provide relevant and up-to-date education around Catholic Charities' programs and activities to corporate, parish and volunteer stakeholders; cultivate and steward corporate involvement in Catholic Charities' programs and activities; choreograph public platform events to share Catholic Charities' mission and values; cultivate stakeholder volunteerism and engagement across all Catholic Charities' programs and activities. These activities will operate cross-functionally across the organization and in partnership with the Development Team.

This position will represent Catholic Charities with a number of current and new corporate partners who seek more meaningful engagement opportunities for their employees as well as their goals for corporate social responsibility. As such, the Partnership and Volunteer Engagement Manager will approach volunteerism and stakeholder engagement with an entrepreneurial spirit, focused on developing support for specific programs and agency priorities. This is a highly visible and collaborative role requiring the Manager to have a strong understanding of Catholic Charities' core mission and strategy and where stakeholder engagement supports those efforts.


Corporate Engagement (40%): Seek, initiate and steward relationships with new and current corporate partners in an effort to educate them around Catholic Charities' mission, vision and values as well as its programs. Related activities will include but are not limited to:

Strategically coordinate outreach to corporate partners whose values align with Catholic Charities and with whom there is alignment in mission priorities.
Develop and engage corporate employees in meaningful volunteer opportunities across Catholic Charities.
Initiate and steward an education program and related events that compel employees to give and volunteer, and corporate partners to match those donations. This work is in conjunction with Development and Communication team efforts.
Develop and help manage relationships with corporate responsibility staff in an effort to build corporate revenue opportunities (i.e. employee giving, matching gifts, etc.) for Catholic Charities.

Volunteer Management (40%): Serve as an internal champion and resource for volunteer and community engagement. Support individuals, corporations, and parishes in their efforts to integrate volunteer service into their working norms and/or in their efforts to identify meaningful opportunities for volunteerism. This includes communications, training, and tracking processes. Related activities will include but are not limited to:

Manage Catholic Charities' volunteer platform to engage external and internal stakeholders, and provide quarterly reports detailing level of engagement and value of service.
Develop, enhance, and regularly maintain a user-friendly application, screening process, and data management of prospective volunteers in coordination with program-designated volunteer coordinators, Human Resources, and other departments.
In conjunction with relevant programs, design and market a "signature" volunteer opportunity for engagement.
Ensure all volunteer data is up-to-date and accurately maintained.
Develop, post, and maintain volunteer opportunities on internal and external volunteer sites.
Execute a continuous Catholic Charities' agency-wide volunteer onboarding training and orientation (with applicable resources). Conduct routine assessments and adjust training as needed.
Lead monthly volunteer coordinator trainings and/or support meetings, and support volunteer coordinators and other staff who work with volunteers in order for optimal usage of volunteers.
Evaluate all aspects of volunteer programs to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate.

Community Engagement and Communications (10%): Provide strategic and tactical support on a variety of projects and initiatives including, but not limited to, special events, campaigns, and external relations. Represent Catholic Charities with corporate and community partners who seek information and education about our programs, partnerships, and/or volunteer service. Meet with local and statewide partners whose mission and values align with those of Catholic Charities and who can provide valuable opportunities for our programs to highlight their efforts. Partner with internal partners to articulate the value of volunteerism and giving efforts to key stakeholders. Enhance communications to accelerate the awareness and dissemination of the Pope Francis Center's activities and related programs. Related activities will include, but are not limited to:

Ensure volunteers receive adequate program and agency-wide communications, as appropriate.
Develop and execute annual volunteer recognition event.

Measurement and Reporting (5%): Measure engagement in and impact of corporate partners, including resource allocation by education/events, volunteer hours, employee gifts, matching gifts, corporate revenue, community impact, etc. Assist in the development of reporting capabilities to support a comprehensive and accurate picture of total giving and volunteerism. Support approaches that enable Catholic Charities to measure change delivered by these activities. Related activities will include, but are not limited to:

Develop and execute protocols for acknowledging individual volunteer contributions to Catholic Charities.
Analyze and maintain volunteer and stakeholder statistics.
Provide quarterly assessments (by program) to program directors that detail and measure engagement and volunteerism efforts.

Other (5%): Perform other duties as assigned.

Participate in trainings and coordination meetings as requested by Supervisor.
Adherence to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Bachelor's degree or equivalent lived and / or worked experience preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience and knowledge with volunteer program coordination and partnerships.
Experience with community networking and organizing.
Ability to effectively work with standard office programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and PowerPoint.
Experience with nonprofit and other volunteer database systems. Salesforce experience preferred.
Demonstrate judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.

Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met in a timely manner. High attention to detail required.

Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.

Ability to work well in team setting, as well as independently; be flexible and adapt well to different dynamics in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, which could include some evenings and weekends.

Must have driver's license, access to vehicle and ability to obtain automobile insurance at levels required by agency (100/300/100).
Satisfactory results from criminal, civil and/or motor vehicle background check required.
