Summary Description: The Student Activities Coordinator is a full-time, benefit eligible position reporting to the Director of Student Leadership and Multicultural Programs. This live-in position champions the student experience on a diverse, urban, Christ-centered, liberal arts campus through supporting and empowering student leaders to plan high energy events both on campus and in Portland. The ideal candidate is excited about the opportunity to engage with a diverse student population through a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend work and can effectively communicate with and publicize events to University students.

Essential Functions:
Campus Activities Board (35%)
Oversee the plans and activities for Campus Activities Board, including regular campus events and intramurals.
Ensure a calendar of high-quality campus and commuter events.
Set semester and yearly goals for areas and assess the effectiveness of the activities.
Hire and oversee student leaders, meet weekly with each student leader, and host weekly staff meetings.
Coordinate with Campus Life, Residence Life, and other ASWPU areas to create a unified campus programming plan.
Coordinate and support content and communication across all Student Life departments.
Coordinate with WPU Marketing Department to promote and support campus communication pathways and ensure consistent usage and utilization across Student Life.
Assist with Clubs and Orgs support and Act Six Program support.
Student Services and Office Management (30%)
Act as Office Manager for the division of Student Life by handling walk-ins and providing general office support.
Hire, train, and oversee the schedules for Student Life front desk student workers. Student Activities Coordinator 06/20 Page 2
Cover or arrange for coverage for the Student Life front desk when student workers are unavailable (including one hour a day for lunch).
Oversee general Student Life initiatives that run through the Student Life Center, including event promotion processes.
Maintain a professional, organized physical space for the Student Life Center.
Oversee scheduling and approval of SLC space.
Oversee pictures and ID card requests for students, staff, and faculty.
City Builders Programming Support (20%)
Assist the City Builders program lead in planning, promoting, and creating regular cadre meetings focused on learning and support for each class of students in WPU’s City Builders program.
Coordinate, in partnership with the City Builders program lead, summer training for incoming City Builders students.
Residence Life (15%)
As a live-in staff member, serve in an on-call rotation.
Attend periodic Residence Life staff meetings and training to develop positive working relationships with the Resident Advisors and Residence Life team.
Attend scheduled trainings and meetings as necessary for role.
Student Success Coach (only applicable in the case of remote education) (80%)
If campus operations move to remote or hybrid instruction due to communicable disease or other concerns, this position will adjust in part to a Student Success Coach model as generally outlined below. Residence Life and general Student Life responsibilities continue, while programmatic and student leadership roles will adapt to the new modality.
Serve as a student success coach, regularly reaching out to a specific group of students for both individual and group check ins that focus on responding to student needs and questions as well as proactively supporting and providing resources to students.
Coordinate support with faculty and staff, including academic advising, tutoring, student retention manager, student CARE team, and other relevant sources as needs arise through weekly outreach and meetings.
Continue to meet with student leaders in CAB and Student Life Center roles to support their ongoing learning and engagement. Lead brainstorming and creation of involvement activities that foster student belonging and student thriving in a virtual, remote environment.
General Expectations
Manage budgets for Campus Activities Board and Student Life Center.
Participate in ASWPU meetings and planning.
Participate in and contribute to regular Student Life staff meetings and any all-Student Life events each semester including Welcome Weekend and Welcome Week activities and end-of-semester training and planning.
Demonstrate presence and availability for student leaders and students you serve on campus.
Help strengthen a diverse and inclusive environment and serve as an advocate, resource, and proactive catalyst to advance the University’s mission in the areas of student support.
Create timely, consistent, responsive, and effective communication to students, faculty, and staff concerning the activities and events in your area. Student Activities Coordinator 06/20 Page 3
Practice regular collaboration with faculty, staff, and students across program areas on both the Mt. Tabor and Centre 205 campuses.
Be present in the office on a daily basis unless arrangements are made with the employee’s direct supervisor.
Contributes to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
Participates in Warner Pacific University professional development opportunities.
Adheres to University policies and procedures.
Demonstrates commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.
Exhibits commitment to inclusiveness and sensitivity in areas of national origin, ethnicity, culture, gender, and disabilities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse populations.
An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited higher education institution or equivalent relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Participation in Student Activities/Campus Life events in University.
Experience leading training or leadership development activities.
Prior professional or undergraduate leadership in Student Activities budgeting, planning, promoting, and assessment.
An understanding of ways to assess the quality and effectiveness of campus events.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Demands – Work Environment: The position is located in a typical office environment. Professional/business casual attire is required.
