About the Position
Substitute Educational Assistants play an integral role in supporting the students and school communities of Portland Public Schools every day. Working as a Substitute Educational Assistant with Portland Public Schools requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability, as Substitutes are eligible to work throughout the district in any school. Substitute Educational Assistants work a flexible schedule on an as-needed basis, and have the ability to assign themselves to jobs via the Absence Management system up to one month in advance.
Substitute Educational Assistants provide supporting services to a classroom teacher or teaching staff responsible for students in classrooms, resource centers or other school and school related areas. This position aids in preserving the unity of classroom advancement by providing extra support to students who have difficulty comprehending or who are in need of emphasis on specific aspects of the instructional program.
