About the Position
Lewis & Clark College Department of Music invites applications for the position of Adjunct Voice Faculty, to begin Fall Semester 2020. Tenor, baritone, and bass-baritone voice parts are preferred.
Responsibilities will include teaching individual lessons emphasizing healthy bel canto vocal technique to students ranging from beginning non-majors to experienced music majors, as well as participating in studio classes and juries with the other voice faculty. (Voice lessons will be held remotely during the time of COVID, then transition back to in-person teaching when safe to do so.)
A successful candidate must understand the needs and capabilities of beginning voices, be able to assign appropriate literature for multiple voice types, foster practice skills, and maintain awareness of recent research in vocal pedagogy and vocal health. Candidates are expected to have diverse performing and teaching experience in repertoire including opera, oratorio, art song, ensemble music, and new music.
Adjunct Faculty are expected to be responsible and responsive members of the music department; the voice and choral area is a cohesive and mutually supportive unit that collaborates to support our students and their development.
Master of Music or Master of Arts required.
