Sustaining Mechanical Engineer 47477
We are seeking a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Beaverton, OR. As a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for optimization of the mechanical design of innovative, adaptive products that help make athletes better. In this role, you will work closely with various functional teams, including Design, Product Innovation, Engineering, and Manufacturing. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate globally with engineering development partners and contract manufacturing teams. li
Serve as a mechanical engineering resource to product teams to enable inline product creation.
Drive collaboration between engineering, design, and consumer experience teams.
Use concept sketches, engineering design/ideas, and other communication methods to assure clear understanding of technological capabilities and limitations of mechanical systems and manufacturing methods.
Use CAD and other tools to simulate engineering structure, materials, and product designs.
Create specifications and quotation documentation in order to lead external professional services firms (domestic and international) and factories to create prototypes, proofs-of-concept, and product concepts for the product development team.
Perform failure analysis and identify root cause of consumer returns. Feed this information back to product teams and make necessary design updates.
Facilitate inline product expansion opportunities through design optimization, cost-down exercises, and component second sourcing.
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
Minimum 2 years of work experience in mechanical design and product development.
Mechanical engineering experience in the consumer electronics or medical industry is highly preferred.
Experience working in sporting goods industry is a plus.
Excellent creativity, communication, presentation, problem solving, and time-management skills are required.
High-level understanding of adjacent technical disciplines (industrial design and electrical engineering) required.
Experience working closely with Design teams to preserve design intent required.
Proficiency in parametric modeling software (e.g. SolidWorks) required.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
Available for occasional late-afternoon/evening conference calls.
