Conflict at Work: Intentional Approaches to Self-Regulation, Expanding Compassion and Having Difficult Conversations in Turbulent Times

Start Date: 09/30/2020 8:00 AM

End Date: 09/30/2020 10:00 AM

These are difficult times for everyone. We are navigating upheaval of our routines, family lives, fear and uncertainty about the future. We are confronting and learning about systemic racism while we are socially distanced, communicating remotely and in a time of polarization in our nation. Some of these uncertainties and fears are manifesting in conflict in our organizations. This workshop will address current organizational conflict (both intra and interpersonal) from the lenses of scientific research into bias, trauma, fear, unskillful behavior and practical strategies for addressing all three areas.

We will introduce models for understanding fear, conflict, racial and other forms of trauma. In addition we will introduce tools for self-regulation, expanding compassion, having difficult conversations, and how to use trauma informed practices to reduce triggering a threat response and negativity biases. We will use mindfulness and compassion practices as part of this curriculum.

Presenters: Mariann Hyland & Jill Goldsmith
